Coaches
Abby has been part of the Penguins Swim and Dive Team since it began! She is a graduate of Newport High School, a graduate of Northern Kentucky University, and works professionally as a paralegal for C. Edward Massey & Associates. Abby has been a diving coach for the Penguins for almost 11 years, and is stepping into the Head Dive Coach role in 2025. She also coached year-round diving for several years. In 2024, Abby married Kyle Mardis, and they reside in Fort Thomas.
Raine Ellerman is an inaugural Penguin, joining the Newport Swim and Dive Team in its first year in 2012. Raine was a year-round competitive swimmer for many years, and graduated in 2025 after her 14th summer as a Penguin. In 2026, Raine is entering her fifth season as a Penguins swim coach.
Raine's high school swimming career was marked by competing nationally at the ISCA Championships in St. Petersburg, Florida and as a Miami Valley Conference Champion, Sectional Champion, and repeated District and OHSAA State Championship competitor for The Seven Hills Upper School in Cincinnati. In 2024-2025, Raine was named a Co-Captain of the Seven Hills Swim Team, and she qualified in all four of her events for the OHSAA Swim and Dive High School Championship in Canton, Ohio, where she made finals in three of her events and helped lead her team of 7 swimmers to finish in the Top 10 in the State! Raine was also an OHSAA All-Academic Award winner.
In May 2025, Raine graduated from The Seven Hills Upper School. She now attends Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she is an Admission Diplomat and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Raine lives with her family in Newport.
Torin is currently a freshman at the University of Kentucky, where he studies Chemical Engineering. He was member of the Fort Thomas Sharks Swim team for 14 years. Torin also swam for Highlands High School and played football there as well. Torin is starting his first year as a coach for the Penguins, and is excited to continue to give to the NKSL community as a coach. Torin lives in Fort Thomas with his parents and siblings.
Abby joined the Penguins dive team in 2021, and this will be her third summer serving as an assistant diving coach. In addition to the Penguins, Abby is a competitive year-round diver and has qualified for the KHSAA State Dive meet each year of high school as a Campbell County Camel. Abby will graduate from Campbell County High School in 2026, and she lives in Alexandria with her family
Addie has been a Penguin diver and swimmer for the last 11 years. She is entering her fifth year of coaching Penguins diving in 2026. Addie is an accomplished diver, competing at the KHSAA State Championships and placing in the top 5 places at the NKSL Championship the past few years. Addie is passionate about diving and loves helping Penguins athletes grow, compete, and reach their goals both on and off the board. Addie will graduate from Highlands High School in 2026, and lives in Fort Thomas with her family.
